FUMC has a small food pantry that we keep stocked all year long with basics for those that are in need who stop by the church. We are always collecting food for those in need.

This is a mission action day for the church. Church members meet in the fellowship hall for breakfast on a Saturday morning in the fall, and after eating, groups will move throughout the community to help with various organizations and projects

For the past several years we have partnered with Rise Against Hunger as a part of the Jeremiah Project. Last year FUMC packed over 10,000 meals for the hungry. Lots of volunteers of all ages come together to sort and pack food.

In 2016, the church received a grant grom the Randolph Health Community Foundation to plant a community garden. Since then we have provides thousands of pounds of fresh vegetables to programs throughout the community. Come and join us as we grow together.

Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers work on Habitat projects throughout the year. We supply lunch for the workers on certain days, and host different groups who come to work on houses, several times a year. What a blessing to help those in need of a home.

We have partnered with McCrary Elementary School. Volunteers tutor children, we collect school supplies for children at the start of the school year, we give grants so that all children can go on school trips, we support the staff with an appreciation lunch. In 2017 we started a new project; we received a C4C [Congregations for Children] grant from the Western NC Conference of the UMC to help children in poverty reach their grade levels in reading. Some of our tutors will work with children from KG and Grade 1. As part of our commitment to helping our schools, we participate in the community in Schools Back-Pack Program. We provide food bags for children with little food to take home at the weekend. If you want to volunteer at McCrary, please look at the attachment listed here.
