At First Kids, we are committed to creating a safe, loving, exciting, Bible-based environment for kids; one that will activate their minds and warm their hearts.
We offer a variety of worship and learning experiences for your little ones, from birth through 5th grade, during our Sunday morning services at 9:45, 11:00. We also offer Sunday and Wednesday evening Children’s programming.
If you have any questions or would like to dicuss our Children’s Ministry Programs, please feel free to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
A nursery is available on Sunday morning for children, newborn through 3 years old, between 9:45 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The nursery is also available for many studies and activities during the week. We have paid nursery staff so that children will have consistency instead of having to adjust to a new person every time they go to the nursery. Our nursery staff is wonderful with our children!
Children’s Programming on Sunday Mornings
On Sunday mornings, we offer Children’s Church during the 9:45 and 11am services. Classes are split by Preschool, Younger Elementary, and Older Elementary. Currently we are using the Deep Blue Curriculum with the preschooler and younger elementary. The older elementary follows a variety of curriculum.
Wednesday/Sunday Evening Programming For Preschoolers to 5th Grade
Through music, drama, game, crafts, and a lesson, the children learn how to praise God and share the love of Jesus.
Wednesday evenings, after a family meal time at 5 pm, programming begins at 6 pm with Music Time with Mr. Tim, our Worship Leader.
Sunday evenings begin at 5 pm with dinner for the children followed by programming from 6-7 pm.
You can sign up to help with Sunday evening meals here.
**We are committed to being a faith community that surrounds you and your child with love, care, nurture and hope. We pray you will find many opportunities for your child to grow in their spiritual journey here at First UMC. Children’s Ministries focuses on loving and sharing our faith with children from birth through 5th grade. **
We are a Safe Sanctuaries Congregation!
The General conference of the United Methodist Church, in April 1996, and the Western North Carolina Annual Conference, in June 2004, adopted resolutions aimed at reducing the risk of abuse of children and youth in the church. This would include sexual, emotional, physical and ritual abuse and neglect.
The purpose for establishing our Safe Sanctuary policy and the procedures is to demonstrate our absolute and unwavering commitment to the physical safety and spiritual growth in all of our children and youth in the church. In all of our ministries with children and youth, our congregation is committed to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ so that each child and youth will be “surrounded by steadfast love, established in the faith and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal”.
Safe Sanctuary Trainings are held regularly. Background Checks are done on all staff and volunteers who work with our children/youth at the church. Please contact Minister of Discipleship, Edward Ramsey or the church office for more information.
